Just another example of how software always needs to be updated:

Millions of computer users at risk from virus affecting Internet Explorer

Serious flaw in Internet Explorer not fixed yet

Emergency patch for Internet Explorer coming tomorrow

AVG 8.0 Protects Against Dangerous Internet Explorer Vulnerability

Watch for the next Windows update... or just start using Firefox (until that one has problems, too). I should be happy they don't make it for the Mac anymore - even though it stinks when developers only develop for IE and alienate all Mac users. Yeah, that makes sense.

But seriously, it's a dangerous hole / virus. Do not use IE until it's fixed.

Update:

As predicted, Firefox has issues also:

Firefox Issues Eight Patches for Web Browser

Mozilla has issued eight patches for its Firefox Web browser, three of which fix problems classified as critical.

The patches come after security experts have recommended using a browser other than Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7 and older versions of IE due to a dangerous vulnerability. Microsoft is due to release an emergency patch for that problem Wednesday.

Do those software updates and don't ignore them. Make sure you do online backups of your computer and also run anti-virus. All of these things can be a huge headache if they are ignored. We've all been there. It takes valuable time to recover. This is the age we live in and what you have to do.

The web hosting servers we run have an excellent backup system. We probably dig into it once a month or more for ourselves or for clients. It's handy and a nice benefit we offer (free plug for our hosting). :-)
