It has been said a kajillion times but I'll say it again... content is king!

If you do tons of SEO work, get the incoming links for a certain keyword but that keyword is not even mentioned on that page (which would be a lot of work to make that happen), then when people come to that page, they will not find what they're looking for and leave. So what's the point of all that work if your bounce rate is sky high?

One big thing I've learned over the last year about SEO is that you need content - totally original content that's quality. Don't just regurgitate the same stuff on a page in a new way, do some research. Write content that people will want to bookmark, that they'll want to pass on to others. It has to be that good. People can spot fluff. Don't fool them but build trust and they will reward you.

Think about the companies you do business with. Which ones do you like the most? Are they honest and treat you fairly? Think about the websites you visit. Which of those do you like the most? Do they have new content? Then think about your own website. Are you just talking about yourself and what you do or does your website give to the website visitor?

Don't get me wrong, you don't want to say everything on your website. You need to hold some thing back so that people will want to contact you. This is very important. You can still write good copy and give away good information while still holding some things back. That's not hard.

Here's an article I found this morning about this topic:

Link Building: Not Just Off-Page Anymore (searchengineland.com)

Think about the days when you’d search for a site and see a result in the SERPs that contained your keywords in the description, but when you clicked on the listing, they were nowhere to be found, and the content was not even remotely what you wanted. A nice ranking, if you cared, and a nice bit of traffic, but it wouldn’t convert.

...Link building is just another form of creating visibility for your site. If you build links using anchor text for something that isn’t actually found on a site – that’s not a good thing.

Enjoy your day!
-Tony
