If you haven't seen it yet, Google came out with Google Instant yesterday. I was watching the presentation live yesterday. It's pretty cool. What it does is start showing results as you type in your search. Their goal is to reduce time in the whole search process even more by predicting what you will search for.
People doing SEO, though, are wondering if this changes how to do SEO and if SEO is now even dead since Google now guides the search even more.
Has Google Killed SEO? (mthink.com)
The important thing is what this does to SEO. First reactions include one from Steve Rubel, the SVP, Director of Insights for Edelman Digital, who said that because this introduces feedback into the search process, people’s actions will change. Nobody will see the same results page and so optimizing will be almost impossible.
I'm sure there will be more about this as this is put out into the real world and everyone sees the results. It'll be interesting. I think it definitely does change things quite a bit. For reasons like this, it's great to have an SEO partner that keeps up with this kind of news and can adapt. Doing SEO yourself can be done but it's a huge animal now and wouldn't you rather run your business than be a geek?
