The Best Internet Marketers Are...

I was going through all the bogus website submissions on MadisonClick.com this morning, cleaning them out (I have yet to add CAPTCHA to that form) and was thinking. All these people are trying to get their website linked to. They know that the more links are out there, the better they will rank and more links get you more traffic.

So some of the best Internet Marketers out there are spammers.

They get that you need to promote your website. They know that a certain percentage of people will click on spam email or click on a bogus link, so in order to meet a sales goal, they just work that formula backwards and it tells them how many links or spam emails to get out there. If spam email didn't work, if a certain percentage - even though very small - did not even click on spam email links, then spam email would have died a long time ago. But instead, people do click on spam, which is why it's out there.

What does this tell us? Well, we don't want to be spammers but we do need to get our links out there. That's a basic rule of advertising. Some of our clients really get this. They work hard on link building. Most do not, unfortunately. The good news is that since most people don't get this yet, the playing field is still wide open. WIDE open. We're still in the glory days of Internet Marketing when it's still easy. It's not always going to be this way - not for too much longer. So seize the moment and start building links to your website. Do a little bit each day or each week but do something.
