Tough Economy? Invest in Cheap Advertising to Keep Going

Written by Tony Herman

In looking at the current economic situation here in the US (and the world), I can see how some people may think that they can't afford to spend more money on their website. I disagree - and not just because we're a website design company (ok, I may be a little biased but read on). Here are some things to consider:

  • Where do people look to get good deals on things?
The web! Is your website updated and optimized so that they find you? When they get to your website, can you turn that hot lead into a sale or doesn't your website (salesman) do a good job at that?
  • If you need to scale down your Yellow Pages ad, where can you refer people to and say more than just a small ad?
The web! All of your offline advertising (and online advertising, of course) needs to point to your website. Putting more information on your website is very, very cheap.
  • What is your competition doing? Are they expanding their website?
Your competition could be taking this excellent opportunity to update and upgrade their website. So should you.
  • Is acquiring new customers good for your business?
Remember, it's harder to acquire customers than keep existing customers. Look at how much revenue you bring in from existing customers. If it's significant, then it makes sense to add more new customers to that base.
  • Online advertising is cheap.
Not only is it cheap, it's trackable. You know exactly what's working and what's not. You can make instant changes if what you're doing isn't optimal. Change it until it is optimal and then you're set. You're bringing in consistent revenue.

At this time, you can't afford not to spend more on online advertising!

I love that cheesy sales line but it's actually true here. If you can figure out how to optimize your website during these lean times, then when things recover, you'll be running leaner and meaner than when this whole thing started. This is really a great time to work on your website. Many of our clients are doing this right now and it's working. We can help. Give us a call and let's talk. We'd hate for this amazing opportunity to pass you by so don't tell us we never mentioned it! :-)
