We had a client come to us recently asking for the functionality which was in Flash on their website be put into their website without Flash. The reason they wanted this done is because Flash reached "End of Life" on December 31, 2020. It's not being supported and you should remove Flash from your computer.
You might have to be a bit older to remember this, but back when the Web was getting started, web browsers couldn't do much. When I started working on websites, we couldn't even use tables. To overcome this, Shockwave Flash was introduced (Adobe later bought it). It took a few seconds for the Flash player to load, but all of a sudden, your web browser could do some cool things.
Flash was later replaced by a number of tools including HTML5. Since some Flash applications were still out there, Adobe supported it for a while, but set the end of last year to stop doing support.
If you need a Flash app on your website converted to not use Flash, that could take some work. It'll depend on what exact functionality we're talking about. Sometimes Flash was just used to do animation, so that's on the easy end of things. If you need certain calculations or something else done, that'll take more work. It's not just a couple hours of work, either (just to set the right expectations).
We can help with Flash conversion, so please contact us to find out more.
If you have Flash installed on your computer, it's time to remove it because it's not supported. That means if there's a security hole in it (and there most likely is or will be), then you could get hacked. Here's how to do it for Windows and Mac.
